INSTALLATION OF CLT PANELS

The laying of CLT walls and floors is very simple and fast. The fastening must be performed with proper hardware. Since the CLT system replaces the individual bearing structures, the remaining part of the site is managed similarly to hollow-core concrete buildings.

The construction of a CLT building normally begins with the realization of a base consisting of a raft or continuous foundation to which is connected a lower larch chord or to which it is combined with a reinforced concrete spandrel beam. A bitumen sheet or similar material is laid between the concrete and the wood, thus insulating the latter from contact with water.

The connection and joining between the various panels (vertical and horizontal panels) are made using appropriate steel angle brackets, passing plates, screws and nails.

The joints between the panels can be of three types: butt-joint with 45° screws, surface spline joint or half-lapped joint.

To ensure air tightness between the joints of compressible sheets, foams, sealants, adhesive strips or rubber seals, as indicated by the specifications provided by the manufacturers, are recommended.
